Maruti Suzuki India Limited is preparing to launch the new generation Swift and Dezire in the coming months. Now, both the cars have been spotted around Kufri and Narkanda where they were possibly undergoing high altitude testing. The interesting thing was that it looked as if the Dezire had a sunroof. However, it has not been confirmed yet whether the car will come with a sunroof or not.

Most manufacturers test their vehicles in a variety of conditions to ensure that consumers do not face any problems when they take the vehicle in such weather conditions. Also, it seems like the Dzire is using some kind of snow chains due to the tricky and slippery road conditions.

There will be some major changes in the design of Swift and Dezire. The overall silhouette has been revised so that the rear of the Dzire looks more sleek while the standard Swift now looks sharper.

In terms of interior, there are many changes which are inspired from the interior of Baleno. It has a dual-tone color scheme and the dashboard is also new. The touchscreen infotainment system is new and will come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The automatic climate control system is located below the AC vent. It features a new instrument cluster with analog dials and digital multi-information display.

Powering both cars will be a new three-cylinder petrol engine called the Z12E. By comparison, the current K-series engine is a four-cylinder unit. In the global market, it comes with a CVT automatic transmission. However, Maruti Suzuki will offer a 5-speed manual gearbox in India. For the automatic versions, there may be a CVT unit or more likely a 5-speed AMT will be used.

The new engine produces around 80 bhp of maximum power and a peak torque output of 108 Nm. It is slightly less powerful than the current Swift which produces 88 bhp and 113 Nm. However, the new engine offers a better fuel efficiency figure of 24 kmpl.
