Both the Ford Endeavor and Ranger are built on the T6 ladder-on-frame chassis. Although the Endeavor (Everest in other countries) is designed as an SUV and is slightly less than 5 meters long, the Ranger is approximately 5.4 meters long and is designed as a mid-size pickup truck. While most of the looks are similar to the Endeavour, especially the front, the profile and rear of the Ranger is far more impressive. The Ranger’s spacious flat-bed extends the length of the vehicle and at the rear there is a traditional pick-up truck style door with LED tail lamps and raised Ranger badging.

The interior design of Ford Ranger is quite similar to Ford Endeavour. Notably, it features an all-new dashboard layout with a new steering wheel and center console. A standout feature is the huge, vertically integrated 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 12.3-inch digital driver display. But being a pick-up truck, it does not have third row seating.


The Ford Ranger offers a number of comfort and convenience features, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, powered ventilated and heated front seats, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, a powered tailgate, and ambient lighting.

Safety being the top priority, the Ranger comes equipped with nine airbags, electronic stability control and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) Level 2 functionalities such as Pre-Collision Assist with Intersection Assist, Lane Keeping System with Road Edge Detection, Reverse Brake Assist,… and parking assistance.


For the Australian market, the Ford Ranger is offered with 4 different engine options to choose from. The base variant gets a 2-litre single turbo diesel engine producing 170 PS and 405 Nm, and can only be had in 4×2 configuration. The other option is a 2-litre bi-turbo diesel engine that produces 210 PS and 500 Nm. Depending on the variant you choose, this engine can be optioned in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations. For the higher variants of the Ranger, a 3-litre V6 turbo-diesel producing 250 PS and 600 Nm and a 3-litre V6 twin-turbo EcoBoost engine producing 397 PS and 583 Nm can be opted for. It is worth noting that both the 3-litre engines are available only with 4-wheel-drive.

Variants, price and rivals

For international markets, Ford Ranger is available in 7 different trims, namely XL, XLS, XLT, Sport, Wildtrak, Platinum and Raptor. It remains to be seen which variants make it to India, given that Ford is yet to give any official confirmation regarding its re-entry. Ranger can be had in these 7 color options – Arctic White, Aluminum Metallic, Meteor Grey, Shadow Black, Blue Lightning, Lux Yellow and Equinox Bronze.

When launched, the Ranger will rival the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in India and the expected price could be around Rs 50 lakh to Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom).
