Google Maps gets three new features to help you travel over the holidays

Google Maps gets three new features.

As the summer travel or vacation season approaches, Google has added three new features to Maps. Not only that but according to Google, users will start seeing new design upgrades that give Maps a fresh look. The new design offers a cleaner home page with fewer tabs as well as new pin colors to help you find places on the map. Google Maps is a commonly used navigation tool or app around the world. One reason is that it is packed with useful features that Google keeps updating to make it better.

To start with, Google Maps is simplifying the process of finding ideal places for dining and sightseeing. Google has collaborated with professionals and residents in some cities across the United States and Canada to provide you with curated restaurant recommendations. Search for the city you want and swipe up to get recommendations. You’ll find listings from reputable sources like The Infatuation and Lonely Planet, as well as hidden gems and trendy spots.

The Trending list highlights the hottest new restaurants, updated weekly based on what people are talking about on Maps. The top list features the community’s all-time favorite restaurants, tried-and-true dishes. Finally, there are some hidden gems, which are local favorites that may not be as popular yet.

Plus, Google Maps makes it easy to organize and share your favorite destinations. You can now create lists to keep track of where you want to travel or where you’ve been. Creating a list is simple: just touch “New List” on the Saved tab. Then, if you find an interesting place on the map, you can add it to your list.

Additionally, you can also include links to your social media posts such as a review on a great restaurant. This will help you remember why a place deserves a spot on your list and make your recommendations more useful. According to reports, the update will be available for Android and iOS devices around the world later this month.

You can also get a quick feel of a place before you go. Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) evaluates reviews and photos to show you what people like most. AI can now identify dishes in photos, ideal for navigating new menus. Check out the name of that delicious food, its price, its popularity and whether it is vegetarian or vegan. Google says all this information can help you decide whether you need to book a reservation or not.
