Actress Parineeti Chopra on Thursday said she had to audition for the role of Amarjot in Netflix amar singh bright A film that also fulfilled her desire to collaborate with director Imtiaz Ali.

I thought it would be just an introduction, but then Rahman sir asked me, ‘Do you know how to sing?’ I replied ‘I like singing.’ And then he said, ‘Okay, sing and show.’ “I sang ‘Dama Dum Mast Qalandar’ and whatever Punjabi songs I could. That’s how they auditioned me,” Chopra said at the film’s trailer launch here.
This film revolves around the life and times of amar singh brightA popular Punjabi singer of the 80s, who was shot dead along with his singer-wife Amarjot in 1988.
Chopra said she was looking forward to working with Ali, who is known for films like When we met, Rock Star And Love Aaj Kal for almost a decade.
“I have been waiting to work with him for more than nine years. The day I came into films, I made a list of directors and sir’s name was at number one. Although I felt that he would never work with me, Won’t work.” I still have it on the list. Now, it’s done,” she said.
