- This is a rebadged version of the Fronx
- The carmaker’s new entry-level crossover
Toyota will unveil the Taser in India tomorrow. Teasers of this sub-four meter vehicle were recently released which hinted at its new features. It is based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx and will have similar features and equipment. We hope it will be launched in a few months.
Toyota Taser exterior
Since the upcoming Taser will be based on the Fronx, we can expect similar dimensions and body proportions. However, the teaser shows exterior changes that are in line with Toyota’s design language. This includes a front grille, new LED DRLs, Toyota badging and revised bumpers. To bring more variation the Taisor may run on a new set of alloy wheels with a different pattern.
Toyota Taser Interior
The teaser does not reveal any changes inside. Nevertheless, the logo on the steering wheel will be changed. Otherwise, the layout, dashboard design and feature list will be similar to the FrontX. Apart from this, it will have a touchscreen infotainment system and semi-digital instrument cluster. Toyota can opt for different colors for the upholstery along with Taser-badged floor mats.
Toyota Taser Engine and Gearbox Details
The Toyota Tasar is expected to offer the same powertrain options as the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. It includes a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. We can also expect it to get a turbo-petrol, which gets a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol mill that produces 99bhp and 148Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a five-speed manual, five-speed AMT and a six-speed torque converter automatic.
Toyota Taser Price and Competition
Taisor may be priced between Rs. 8 lakh to Rs. Rs 13 lakh, ex-showroom. This French-based entry-level vehicle will compete with compact SUVs like Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
