Upcoming Royal Enfield Roadster 450 spotted testing

Upcoming Royal Enfield Roadster 450.

-Appears to be in near production form

-Based on Himalayan 450 platform

-Expected to launch in a few months

The Royal Enfield Roadster 450 has been spotted testing once again, but this particular test model appears to be production ready. There is very little camouflage to hide the bike and the spy shots show the clearest details about the upcoming 450cc street bike.

The design of the bike looks clean and simple. Starting with the front end, you’ve got a round LED headlight which looks like the same unit seen on the Himalayan 450. There are LED turn indicators above which is the circular instrument cluster. This could either be the round unit of the Hunter 350 or the TFT display of the Himalayan 450. We think it might be the latter.

Move to the side and you’ll find a teardrop-shaped fuel tank whose proportions seem perfect compared to the rest of the bike. Speaking of, the side panel is quite small and you’ve got a similar tail section to the Himalayan 450, replete with integrated tail light and indicator cluster. Overall, the design of the bike appears to be a harmonious one.

Under the bodywork, the frame should be taken from the Himalayan 450 while the subframe should be different to go with the roadster application of the bike. The bike is likely to run on 17-inch wheels with a 140-section rear tyre. The bike has disc brakes at both ends and dual channel ABS should be standard.

We expect the Roadster 450 to be powered by the same engine that you see in the Himalayan 450. It is a 452cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 39.47bhp at 8,000rpm and 40Nm at 5,500rpm in the ADV. We can see that Royal Enfield has tweaked the engine position and possibly the gearing to offer the expected performance and rideability of the roadster.

The Roadster 450 may be named Royal Enfield Hunter 450 and could be launched in a few months. It will compete with Triumph Speed 400 and Husqvarna 401.
