Holi celebrations have begun and people are in a state of excitement as they prepare to celebrate the auspicious festival of colors with their friends and family. These celebrations are filled with foam parties, rain dances, thandai sweets, gulal and much more.

If you are in the mood to play Holi then you cannot miss seeing water balloons and pichkari. There are high chances that your smartphone might get soaked in water while playing Holi or recording videos during celebrations or clicking pictures of your loved ones.

What to do if water gets inside your smartphone?

  1. After removing your phone from water, it is important to turn it off immediately. If it’s an older model, remove the battery.
  2. Avoid shaking the phone, as this may cause water to enter and damage internal components.
  3. Dry the outer surface of your smartphone with a paper towel.
  4. Do not use a hair dryer, as it can generate excessive heat and accidentally damage internal parts. Instead, allow the water to drain naturally. You can also take help of sunlight.
  5. To speed up the process, place the phone in a bag of raw rice for at least six hours as it has moisture absorbing properties.
  6. Avoid charging the phone when it is wet. Apart from this, also remove the SIM card and tray from the phone.

How can you protect your smartphone from water during Holi celebrations?

  1. Ziplock Bag: Use an airtight ziplock bag to protect your phone, smartwatch, smart band or any other gadget while playing Holi.
  2. Moisturizer: Apply a layer of glycerin or moisturizer to protect your earphones from possible discoloration or damage.
  3. Use pattern lock: Instead of using fingerprint recognition, use a pattern or PIN to unlock your phone. It works well on a transparent ziplock bag and allows you to enjoy Holi celebrations without worrying about potential fingerprint identification problems.
