Sara Ali Khan on living as a single mom: ‘You can’t expect people to help you’ Bollywood

Sara Ali Khan is starting 2024 with multiple releases. The actress, who is enjoying the success of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (2023), has seen many ups and downs since her debut with Kedarnath (2018). Apart from playing challenging roles, Sara is also known for her goofy reels and travel trips, which she keeps sharing with her fans on social media. On growing up with a single mother

In a conversation with ETimes, when she was asked about the influence of strong women in her life, she said, “I think living with a single mother plays a huge role in it. At a very young age, I realised. No one is going to do anything for you. It’s not that I don’t get help, I do. But ultimately, you are the driver and initiator of your life. If you’re lucky. If the stars align and God’s will, it will happen. You can’t wait for things to happen, it doesn’t work that way.”

Sara feels proud of her role in Ae Watan Mere Watan

When asked about playing the central character in Ae Watan Mere Watan, Sara said, “It is the most gratifying experience to headline a film like this. Now is the time, because you’re going to see a side of me that I’ve never seen before. My self-deprecating humor could continue, but I’m going to say something I haven’t said in a long time, and that’s why I’m really proud of myself. The last time I felt like this was during Kedarnath. I’m being honest.”

Ae Watan Mere Watan also stars Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Srivastava, Alex O’Neil and Anand Tiwari in important roles. The film, directed by Kannan Iyer, also features Emraan Hashmi in the role of Indian independence movement activist Ram Manohar Lohia. Sara will also be seen in Homi Adajania’s mystery-thriller Murder Mubarak. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Vijay Verma, Dimple Kapadia, Karisma Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Tisca Chopra and Suhail Nayyar in important roles.
