Top 5 SUVs to Sell in March 2024
Of the top five SUVs sold in March, two were from Tata and one each from Hyundai, Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki.
In recent years, SUVs have taken about 50% of the market share. This testifies to consumer sentiment favoring SUVs and high-riding crossovers over traditional hatchbacks and sedans. As a result, most of the OEMs in India as well as globally have focused on developing more SUVs and crossovers, which has led to many such launches.
Let’s take a look at the top five best-selling SUVs in the month of March 2024.

tata punch
Tata Punch was not only the best selling SUV but also the best selling car in the month of March 2024 with a volume of 17,547 units. During the same period last year, Punch recorded volume of 61% resulting in a year-on-year growth of 61% last month. A major reason for this is the inclusion of the all-electric Punch EV in the lineup a few months ago.
Hyundai Creta
Hyundai Creta was the second best SUV and passenger car sold in March this year with 16,458 units, registering a growth of 17% year-on-year. The compact C-segment SUV got a major facelift in January this year which could be a major reason for the increase in sales figures.
Mahindra Scorpio
Mahindra made it to the list with Scorpio registering monthly sales of 15,151 units as against 8,788 units in March this year. This means an increase of 72% year-on-year. The Scorpio range includes the new generation Scorpio N as well as the older generation Scorpio Classic.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza
Maruti Suzuki Brezza took the fourth position in the list of best-selling SUVs with sales of 14,164 units last month. Subcompact SUV sales declined 10% year-over-year. Nevertheless, it still remains the best-selling sub-4 meter SUV in its segment.
Tata Nexon
With 14,058 units shipped to dealerships across the country in March, the Brezza was left far behind the Nexon. Crossover sales declined -5%. Like the Punch, the Nexon is also available in both ICE and fully electric drivetrains.
